Firm Sues Newton County Over Parks Carry Ban

September 14, 2026 -- John Monroe Law, P.C. is suing Newton County, Georgia over an ordinance banning carrying firearms in parks. The firm client has been detained multiple times after being seen armed in county parks. Newton County bans guns in parks despite a state law preempting local regulation, and even a published Court of Appeals opinion ruling that Coweta County cannot ban guns in its parks. The firm has previously sued many cities and counties over this issue, including the City of Atlanta, against which the firm obtained a permanent injunction barring the city from enforcing its own parks gun ban.
